The University of South Carolina Upstate has received $6-million from the family of businessman George Dean Johnson Jr. to start building a business school in downtown Spartanburg, reports the Associated Press.

The donation is the largest in the 40-year history of the school, which is being named for Mr. Johnson, who founded Extended Stay Hotels and Advance America. Construction is expected to be completed in May 2010.
