Wal-Mart Stores announced plans on November 19 to donate more than 90 million pounds of fresh food annually to Feeding America, the nation’s largest charity that fights hunger, according to The New York Times. The move comes in response to the weakened economy, which is causing increasing demand at food banks around the country. “We are a strong company, and we share what we have with people in need,” said Margaret McKenna, president of the Wal-Mart Foundation.
