1. Walter Annenberg, publishing executive and philanthropist who died in October $375-million bequest*

2. Eli Broad, chairman of SunAmerica, a financial-services company in Los Angeles, and his wife, Edythe $300-million
    » To augment the endowment of the Broad Foundation, in Los        Angeles

3. Thomas Monaghan, founder of the Domino's Pizza chain $220-million pledge
    » To create Ave Maria University, in Florida

4. David Geffen, a principal partner in the DreamWorks entertainment corporation $200-million pledge
    » To endow the School of Medicine at the University of California at Los        Angeles
