Purpose: To establish a residential training center and library as part of the organization's sexual-health education efforts in Nigeria

Purpose: To create a center for police-officer accreditation in Mexico


Institute of Law and Public Policy
(Moscow)
Award amount: $500,000
Purpose: To offer additional training opportunities for Russian lawyers


Kartemquin Films
(Chicago)
Award amount: $500,000
Purpose: For board and staff support, to preserve and digitize older films, and to create a fellowship for minority filmmakers


National Housing Law Project
(Oakland, Calif.)
Award amount: $500,000
Purpose: For staff development and to create a cash reserve and upgrade the group's communications system


Resources Himalaya Foundation
(Kathmandu, Nepal)

Purpose: To study the relationship between conservation and development and secure a permanent office for this group that trains scientists to manage biodiversity programs in the region

Purpose: To establish a reproductive-health training and resource center to help prevent maternal mortality among rural women


Woodstock Institute

Award amount: $350,000
Purpose: To upgrade technology, develop a strategic plan, and build a cash reserve for this group that helps low-income people increase and protect their financial assets
