Cedars-Sinai Medical Center seeks a Principal Gifts Officer to
serve as the chief development officer for their renowned Heart
Institute. Since its founding in 1902, Cedars-Sinai has focused on
providing the highest quality healthcare available. In the 2009
U.S. News & World Report rankings, Cedars-Sinai was named one
of America's best hospitals, a distinction placing it in the top
0.4% in the nation. Eduardo Marbán, MD, Ph.D., Director of the
Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, has a revolutionary vision for
advancing the science and treatment of heart disease. The Heart
Institute is the number one priority for philanthropic support in
the Medical Center.
The Principal Gifts Officer will be responsible for the
identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of
prospective donors for all Heart Institute programs and services,
concentrating mostly on gifts of $250,000 or larger. This includes
collaborating with high level philanthropists and other volunteers
in planning and implementing programs and events through various
committees and Board leadership, as well as working with Heart
Institute physicians and scientists to help obtain funding for
their research and clinical activities.
The successful candidate must be an articulate and persuasive
presenter to large and small groups and especially to individuals.
He/She must be comfortable staffing the Director of the Heart
Institute and serving as a trusted confidante. The successful
candidate will be a seasoned development professional with a proven
track record of raising seven, and ideally eight, figure gifts.
He/She must be comfortable working with affluent individuals and
world class researchers. Healthcare experience or some knowledge of
science or medicine is preferred. An undergraduate degree or
equivalent job experience is required; an advanced degree is
preferred.
