Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Instructor Librarian. This position is for the 2022-2023 academic year and is a one-year appointment with the possibility of subsequent reappointments. Applications received by July 15, 2022 will receive fullest consideration. This search will remain open until filled.

The candidate would be expected to: staff research assistance desk approximately 5 - 8 hours per week, including one evening per week; serve as liaison to one or more academic departments at the University, becoming familiar with their programs and courses, and through contact with their faculty make suggestions for library acquisitions and new resources to meet the needs of faculty and students.

Maintain subject proficiency in one or more areas corresponding to liaison responsibilities, providing library instruction for general as well as subject-specific classes including both general and advanced use of library databases in these subjects; create and maintain LibGuides in support of research and instruction; participate in library meetings and programs, University meetings, programs and events as schedule permits;

Remain current in the field of library instruction and information literacy via print and online resources, attendance at relevant meetings, conferences, and workshops, and recommend new and improved resources or programs for possible implementation at the library.

Other Requirements:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited school.

The successful candidate must engage in professional service, demonstrate a high-level of technical aptitude, and enjoy working with students. The individual must also possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, and be willing to adapt quickly to technological change.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in an academic library, selecting materials to add to the collection, experience providing reference assistance in person and via email and chat, and experience providing instruction sessions to students on the use of the library and its resources.
