This past spring, UCLA Performing Arts extended a very excited welcome to Kristy Edmunds, our new Executive and Artistic Director. As an artist, curator, artistic director and frequent consultant internationally, Edmunds brings to UCLA Live a reputation for innovation and depth in the presentation of contemporary art in all disciplines, with a particular emphasis on contemporary performing arts. Her expertise and professional relationships with some of the masters of the 20th and 21st Century performing artists, in addition to critical innovators in all disciplines of artistic practice has given her the reputation of possessing a depth of knowledge across a variety of art forms and projects. The Director of Development will design and implement a development strategy that identifies, solicits and cultivates prospective donors, oversees UCLA Performing Arts' annual gift and major gift programs including two major membership groups, manage a portfolio of development campaigns and projects in concert with the UCLA Performing Arts' short- and long- range strategic plans. This position will report directly to the Executive and Artistic Director of UCLA Performing Arts (UPA), and secondarily to the Assistant Dean, External Affairs of UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture,

The Director of Development will integrate UCLA Performing Arts' development goals and activities with larger campus campaign initiatives. S/he will assess areas of strengths and weaknesses for development activities and develop appropriate strategies to initiate fundraising programs involving individuals, foundations and corporations. The Director will conceptualize and manage small to large-scale events and programs in support of development goals. S/he will engage in frequent interaction with Royce Center Circle Board, Design for Sharing Board of Director, donors, volunteers and UCLA leaders as well as develop and implement a service oriented donor/patron information and patron service unit. The Director works cooperatively with other presenting organization on development programs related to co-commissioned work and, as appropriate, identifies non-traditional methods of increasing funds to UCLA Performing Arts.

A successful candidate will have a proven track record in major gift fundraising, in roles with expanding responsibilities and goals. S/he will have wide experience and skills in developing and implementing strategies for cultivation and solicitation of individuals, particularly at major gift levels. Skill in financial planning, budgeting and strong aptitude for statistical and budgetary analysis is also required.
