GENERAL PURPOSE: This position will provide strategic leadership
for the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy (FMCP), a 501 c (3)
non-profit organization and is responsible for the development of
fundraising opportunities and the overall management of the
organization. Guidance and direction is provided by the FMCP Board
of Trustees and reports directly to the AMCP CEO. This position is
responsible for all fundraising and development activities,
including development of internal and external relationships to
build, create success and meet fundraising goals. In addition, this
position is responsible for program and budget management. This
position will be able to articulate FMCP's mission, goals and
programs to a variety of constituencies, including high-level
individual donors, foundations, and interested parties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities
Reviews and ensures alignment to AMCP and FMCP activities and
capabilities to identify opportunities to align with external
funding sources.
Works collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, and senior
staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy
including all policies, procedures, and controls.
Monitors and reports regularly on the progress of the development
program.
Establishes short and long range goals for funding sources and
annual fundraising goals for specific programs.
Identify and solicit gifts from individuals, corporations,
foundations, non-governmental organizations and other potential
donors.
Designs and implements plans for developing key external
partnerships by cultivating philanthropic support, and works to
develop donor base/pipeline.
Prepares proposals to funding organizations to support global
outreach and impacts projects and for solicitation of major gifts,
direction and oversight of various special events.
Manages portfolio of donors and works closely key volunteers in
individual, corporate and foundation donor cultivation and
solicitation.
Promotes new volunteer opportunities as avenues to build capacity
for achieving fund development goals and objectives.
Manages grant funding activities, including research of prospective
funders; writes grant proposals, grant reports, annual reports and
other publications related to fundraising. Manages grant proposal
process, contracted grant writers and timely execution of all
submittals.
Develops, implements and manages the Foundation's budget to meet
organizational needs.
Detailed responsibilities:
30% Business Development: Design, implement, and manage a
comprehensive proactive development plan focused on expanding and
enhancing foundation relationships by directing and coordinating
activities related to obtaining monetary support for strategically
aligned activities.
30% Pharmacy Affairs: Design, implement and manage a comprehensive
pharmacy affairs program aimed at meeting strategic goals of
leadership, and education to prepare managed care pharmacists for
future innovative and entrepreneurial practice opportunities.
30% Strategic Alliances: Work closely with senior staff, FMCP
Trustees and the AMCP CEO to create opportunities to build the
future growth of managed care pharmacy and meet strategic
objectives.
10% Foundation Operations: Manage the ongoing functions of FMCP
including, reporting, finances, accounting, budget development and
represents FMCP externally.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate should be a visionary and a strategic leader
who can work effectively with teams of professionals in a matrix
organization. The candidate will bring an analytical, intellectual
understanding of pharmacy, managed care, and research, and its
impact on the US healthcare system. Leading candidates will be
broadly informed leaders with a high level of intellectual
curiosity and the capacity to encourage others to explore
innovation and creativity.
Successful candidates will be able to:

- Motivate leaders and volunteers to create a spirit of fundraising
and philanthropy
- Creatively think and be both innovative as well as pragmatic in
meeting goals

- Effectively communicate and be persuasive in presenting ideas and
strategic insights.
- Adept at developing relationships with academia, professional
organizations, including AMCP and the pharmaceutical industry in
furthering the goals and supporting FMCP
- Exhibit strong organizational, administrative, and financial
management skills
- Work in an atmosphere of a "hands-on" role and to perform tasks
with a small staff and volunteers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree in the pharmacy field
preferred. Also preferred, is three (+) years of experience
creating and implementing fundraising programs within large,
complex organizations - preferably with a science or public health
focus. Familiarity and experience in non-profit fundraising.
