General Job Description Direct the Museum's corporate, foundation, and association giving program to secure major gift support for exhibitions, educational programs, and annual membership from corporations, foundations, and associations. Work under the supervision of the Vice President for Development, exercising independent judgment in most areas. Supervise Foundation Relations Manager and Corporate and Association Relations Manager. Work closely and cooperatively with all other members of the development team and the museum staff.

Specific Responsibilities and Functions

Exhibition and Education Program Fundraising ·

Manage the museum's relationshipsâ??including identification, direct solicitation (verbal and written), cultivation, and stewardshipâ??with a set of high-capacity corporate and foundation donors/prospects, and ensure that these relationships are nurtured and maintained for the benefit of the institution over time ·

Manage a portfolio of prospects and identify, qualify, and cultivate new prospects on an ongoing basis ·

Write corporate, foundation, and association funding proposals and reports and review and edit those written by Corporate and Association Relations Manager and Foundation Relations Manager ·

Work closely with the development team on research and solicitation strategies, overall sponsorship standards, and the implementation and management of all tracking documents ·

Work with the Institutional Giving Coordinator to acknowledge all gifts and provide appropriate sponsorship benefits

The Corinthians Membership Program ·

Work with the Museum's Executive Director, Vice President for Development, trustees, and selected volunteers to identify, acquire, and retain high-level corporate and association members ·

Direct appropriate cultivation via mailings, phone calls, face-to-face meetings, etc. ·

Review letters and contracts for all corporate and foundation donors ·

Work with Institutional Giving Coordinator to acknowledge all gifts and provide appropriate benefits

Development Department ·

Serves as an integral member of the development staff, participating in the planning and activities of the department

General Qualification Requirements Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing corporate and foundation gifts in the $10,000-$1,000,000+ range. Full command of Microsoft Word, Excel required. Knowledge of donor software a plus. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are essential. Ability to work proactively and collaboratively and to manage a number of projects simultaneously. Knowledge of issues and trends in the building industry and in Washington area fundraising a plus. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate those under his/her supervision to increasingly strong performance. .
