Asphalt Green is a non-profit sports and fitness organization
located on the Upper East Side. In addition to our wide array of
fee-based programs and classes, we serve more than 16,000
inner-city kids through free programs: Waterproofing, Recess
Enhancement, and our Community Sports Leagues. (see
www.asphaltgreen.org). We are presently seeking a Development
Writer/Researcher to join our Development team. Please note: This
is a full time regular position with a requirement to work at our
offices. No consultants; no remote access.
Operating under the general direction of the Director of
Development, the Development/Grant Writer will research, write and
edit narratives as well as related materials (e.g. budgets) for the
submission of grant proposals. This individual will also prepare
the calendar of deadlines for renewal applications, grant reports
and new prospective foundations. They will work closely with the
Director of Development and Executive Director to research and
identify new-funding opportunities; secure information on
prospective opportunities from online, public and other sources and
will stay informed about statistics and national policy issues on
youth development through exercise, obesity rates and other
pertinent information. The writer will need to be able to analyze
and report on outcomes of/from Asphalt Green's Community Programs.
The Development Writer and Researcher will also work on special
projects such as individual donor solicitations, acknowledgments,
and publications such as our Big Swim Journal, Annual Report, and
Marketing Catalogue. Preparation of these documents will require
working closely with the Executive Director, the Director of
Community Programs, other AG staff and partners.
Additional Qualifications & Requirements Successful record of
achievement with 2+ years of grant-writing experience. Passion for
our mission and a strong Interest in serving inner-city kids
through sports and fitness Must work independently while also being
an effective team member, act with sound judgment, and a high
degree of confidentiality. Ability to prioritize and coordinate
multiple, complex tasks while meeting strict deadlines. Exceptional
written communication skills, unfailing attention to detail and
accuracy, and effective analytic and reasoning skills. Solid
research skills. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is
required. · Must possess proficient knowledge of Word, Excel,
Foundation Center search engines, Internet and e-mail systems. ·
Should have an interest in program design.Desirable Requirements
Masters degree preferred. Experience working with multiple
constituencies including foundations, and community organizations
preferred. Love of fundraising and writing! Ability to perform
basic data analysis and create original tables preferred.
