Vice President for University Advancement

Marywood University, a comprehensive Catholic institution founded by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for University Advancement. Located in a residential neighborhood of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Marywood serves over 3,400 full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. Founded in 1915 and motivated by a pioneering, progressive spirit and a tradition of service, Marywood University provides a framework for educational excellence that enables students to develop fully as persons and to master professional and leadership skills necessary for meeting human needs.

The Vice President for University Advancement, an executive officer of the University, is responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive fundraising plan, which includes capital campaigns, major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, and planned giving as well as alumni relations, conference and events services, government relations, and marketing and communications. The Vice President provides leadership and vision to a team of over 30 full-time dedicated employees and numerous part-time staff and volunteers and serves as chief advisor and lead gift officer to the President in the cultivation and solicitation of leadership gifts.

As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Vice President for University Advancement participates in University-wide strategic planning and collaborates with the Vice Presidents, Deans and Directors in Academic Affairs, Business Affairs, Enrollment Management and Student Life.

The successful candidate will build on the strengths of the division and guide the advancement team into the second century of Marywood's history. The Vice President will preside over the current Comprehensive Centennial Campaign, completing the leadership phase and launching the public phase of the campaign.

Candidates for this position must have demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage the diverse functions of development, marketing, alumni relations, and special events. At least ten years of senior management and a proven record of fund raising in higher education are required. The successful candidate will hold a master's degree in a related and appropriate field; an earned doctorate is preferred.
