Major Gifts Officer
Hampden-Sydney College, a private liberal arts institution with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, invites applications for a Major Gifts Officer. The successful candidate will be a member of the Institutional Advancement staff and will work to raise funds from individuals with the ability to make unrestricted, restricted, planned, and/or capital gifts in the range of $25,000 to $250,000 annually.
The successful candidate should possess a high level of
initiative, be able to work with little or no supervision, expect
to travel extensively, and be responsible for furthering and
maintaining the financial support of the constituencies of the
College, which include alumni, parents, and friends. Duties will
include developing the solicitation strategies for assigned major
gift prospects (approximately 200); tracking (visiting,
cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding) those prospects; and
assisting Trustees and other key volunteers with
solicitations.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a
minimum of five or more years' experience in documented higher
education fundraising is required. Capital campaign experience and
a CFRE are preferred.
