Senior Vice President for University Advancement

Brown University invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Senior Vice President for University Advancement.

The University seeks a seasoned advancement professional with a proven record of successful leadership in fund-raising, alumni relations, communications, and planning at a major research university or similar institution. Experience organizing and implementing one or more significant fund-raising campaigns is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to serve as a key member of the senior management team of a comparable institution.

Reporting directly to the President, the Senior Vice President for University Advancement leads and provides the overall direction, strategic planning, budgetary management, and operating effectiveness of all advancement functions at the University, which includes a staff of approximately 190 and budget of $22 million. This is a strong group with a record of success in the current Campaign for Academic Enrichment. As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Senior Vice President works closely with the President, other senior staff and faculty, as well as members of the Brown Corporation and other volunteer leaders, to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to advancement. The Senior Vice President frequently serves as the lead solicitor for key prospects and staffs the Advancement Committee of the Brown Corporation. Guided by the University's Plan for Academic Enrichment, the Senior Vice President will successfully conclude Brown's current $1.4 billion Campaign for Academic Enrichment -due to be completed in December 2010 - and develop and implement a plan for fund-raising beyond this campaign.
