Position: Director, Foundation Partnerships

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is the voice for UNICEF in the United States, working for the survival of children around the world through fundraising, education, and advocacy. For more than 60 years, UNICEF has been the world's leader for children saving more young lives than any other humanitarian organization.

The US Fund invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Director, Foundation Partnerships based in the NYC National Headquarters.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, the Director will oversee the management and growth of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF portfolio of foundations partnerships which currently generate over $10 million in critical funding for UNICEF's life-saving programs around the world. The Director will be responsible for leading the Foundation Partnerships team, stewarding the retention and growth of existing foundation grants, and working closely with the Director of Partnership Development in identifying and securing significant new opportunities to achieve a doubling of foundation contributions in the medium term. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to build a new initiative and team, extensive experience developing new partnerships and securing $1million+ foundation grants, and a possess a deep network of relationships within the top tier of established and emerging U.S. Foundations.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

·Directly managing a portfolio of key foundation partnerships and grants and overseeing the management of staff member portfolios; and ensuring best-in-class stewardship and reporting practices to assure the long term retention and growth of the overall foundation partnerships.
·Diversifying the portfolio of foundation supporters, especially in the first 24 months in the role
·Overseeing the work of the Manager, Foundations Partnerships, setting individual and team objectives and identifying resources necessary to support the growth of the team over time
·Working closely with the Director of Partnership Development to identify and secure significant new opportunities for mobilizing new resources from the foundations sector
·Leading efforts to increase the visibility of and support for UNICEF among key influencers and decision makers in the foundations sector
·Staying abreast of trends and developments in the foundations sector, updating the team's strategy and goals as needed, and ensuring the achievement of a doubling of foundation contributions in the medium term
·Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders such as foundation partners, UNICEF staff, and other U.S. Fund for UNICEF departments to ensure successful implementation of the foundation partnerships strategy and achievement of the team's objectives

Qualifications
·Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) and a minimum of seven years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
·Significant experience in a grant making capacity at a major foundation and/or a fundraising capacity in an international organization required
·Extensive knowledge of international development issues and approaches with the ability to communicate nuanced programmatic details and contexts required; graduate degree in an international development related field preferred
·Extensive network of contacts at major established and emerging U.S. foundations, and accomplished skills in networking and building external support required
·Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment, consistently achieve team and individual goals, and lead and motivate staff.
·Excellent written and oral communication skills.
·Computer and Internet literate. Familiarity with fundraising and donor management software
·Some travel required, within the U.S. and internationally
