Date posted: 10/23/2009

The MasterCard Foundation is seeking a Director, Youth Learning
LOCATION: Toronto, Canada

The MasterCard Foundation is an independent, private foundation based in Toronto, Canada. Established through a generous gift of shares from MasterCard Worldwide at the time of the company's initial public offering in 2006, the Foundation has more than $2 billion in assets. The Foundation's vision is to make the economy work for everyone by advancing effective and innovative programs in the areas of microfinance and youth education worldwide. The goal is to help create opportunities for people to harness their own skills and resources to improve their quality of life. Its programs serve poor people and youth around the world who are economically active or who want to become economically active.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Youth Learning will shape the Foundation's strategy to enable young people in developing countries, particularly in Africa, to negotiate the transition from school-to-work and to become economically self-sufficient. This includes providing youth with access to knowledge, technology, networks of relationships and other resources to become employable. The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit to create an innovative global youth learning program, build a program team and establish the Foundation as a thought leader in this field. Please see the website for further information at www.themastercardfoundation.org.
