Position: Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
Organization: George Washington University
Location: D.C.
Date posted: 11/6/2009

Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
Washington, D.C.

The George Washington University (GW) - the largest institution of higher learning in the nation's capital and the only one within blocks of the White House, the State Department, the World Bank, the Federal Reserve and the International Monetary Fund - seeks a highly accomplished development and alumni relations leader to usher in a new level of success for the university.

Over the past twenty years, the University has realized remarkable growth and achievements, including the unification of the Foggy Bottom campus and an increase in its aesthetic appeal, new degree programs with high caliber faculty and students, strong enrollments, and a Northern Virginia campus devoted to graduate study and research. GW's partnerships with multiple organizations and entities within the nation's capital and around the world have enabled its undergraduate and graduate programs to build solid reputations. GW currently enrolls approximately 25,000 students, including 10,000 undergraduates, at all of its campuses in the District of Columbia and Virginia. More information on the university may be found at its web-site: www.gwu.edu.

GW seeks to build on this success and establish itself as one of the nation's top private research universities. Under the leadership of President Steven Knapp, GW has invested in building the type of development and alumni relations infrastructure needed to support its aspirations and propel its academic programs and research agenda to even higher levels of accomplishment. As it enters this new and more ambitious era in its fund-raising history, GW seeks a vice president to lead and provide visionary and strategic management for its development and alumni relations programs and help it build and nurture a stronger and more pervasive culture of philanthropy.

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations employs a staff of 220 who are responsible for the fund-raising and alumni relations programs for all of GW's schools and colleges. The Vice President reports directly to the President and is a member of his senior administrative team.

Expressions of interest, nominations, or requests for the full position profile should be directed to Lucy A. Leske and Jon Derek Croteau, the Witt/Kieffer consultants assisting The George Washington University with this search. Electronic submissions are strongly encouraged and should be directed to GWUVP@wittkieffer.com.

George Washington University is an EEO/AA/ADA employer.
