DIRECTOR, MAJOR GIFTS
Loyola University Health System (LUHS)

Loyola University Medical Center, located 10 miles west of downtown Chicago, is one of the area's most respected health care organizations and is recognized nationally for excellence in patient care, education and research.

The Director of Major Gifts will work collaboratively within the department, across departments and in cooperation with many components of LUHS as part of a team of fundraising professionals. S/he actively participates in setting fundraising goals for the department and is charged with the primary duty of carrying an individual portfolio of donor prospects in the $100,000 - $500,000 range, and building relationships with donors and potential donors that lead to major gift support of LUHS. S/he will also work closely with various clinical departments, clinicians and faculty to identify fundraising opportunities, potential prospects and to encourage joint participation in building a culture of philanthropy internally and externally. S/he will work in close consultation with the Senior Director, the Sr Vice President, other major gifts staff, and members of the Grateful Patient Program.


REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:
-Required: Bachelors Degree
-Preferred: Masters Degree
Minimum Experience:
-Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
-Preferred: 6-10 years of previous job-related experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Manages and develops a portfolio of his/her own major gift prospects at the $100,000 to $500,000 level, consisting of approximately 100-140 individuals.

-Works with physicians, administrators, and engagement services to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects and donors, while conducting numerous donor and prospect visits each month.

-Works collaboratively in planning strategy for cultivation of donors and prospects with the Senior Director, Sr Vice President, Sr Director of Grateful Patient Program and other members of the Development and Extrernal Affairs department.

-Works to build major gift infrastructure and collaborates with engagement services staff to enhance major gifts donor experiences including strategy for stewardship and events.

-Strategizes toward and implements new and better techniques to bring giving at LUHS to $32-$35 Million annually including collaboration across teams within the department.

-Assists Senior Director in mentoring junior major gift officers system wide, while offering strategic input and suggestions to the entire Development and External Affairs team.

-Works within the established guidelines of record keeping for donor contact in fund raising database and is responsible for maintaining dashboard style reports and thumbnail sketches of donors and prospects.
