Pace University is seeking a dynamic and highly organized professional as its Assistant Vice President for Philanthropy to oversee a variety of fundraising activities in the Office of Philanthropy at our downtown New York City campus.
Reporting to the Vice President for Philanthropy, the AVP will manage the front line fundraising operations of four schools on two campuses, as well as Planned Giving and Prospect Research. In addition to management responsibilities, the AVP will also maintain a small portfolio of major gift prospects. The AVP will be a member of the Advancement executive staff, who together with peers will inform and advise the Vice President on key issues related to all Advancement activities and will provide strong support of the University's ongoing comprehensive campaign as well as strategic input for future campaigns.
The right candidate is a self-starter exhibiting superior communications skills. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership to a diverse staff. S/he must have significant experience in major gift fundraising and management in a university or institutional environment. It is important the individual have the ability to adapt, effect change and manage innovation while embracing the heritage and mission of the University. Demonstrated abilities to work successfully in a team environment and manage multiple competing priorities are required.
Responsibilities:
*Direct the fundraising and alumni relations efforts for four schools on two campuses.
*Manage an active portfolio of major and principal gift prospects.
*Direct a variety of University-wide and school-specific cultivation and fundraising events.
*Collaborate with peer AVP (s) on various strategic initiatives, including but not limited to ongoing development communications, including annual report, bi-annual magazine, and web communications.
*Assist the Vice President for Philanthropy in the general administration of the department, including the preparation and monitoring of an annual department budget, oversight of the department purchasing procedures, development of departmental policy, performance evaluation and coordination of the department's planning process.
*May serve on committees on the University level.
*Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Philanthropy.
*Supervise, manage and evaluate a team of professionals, including the Directors of Development and Alumni Relations for the following schools: Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Lienhard School of Nursing, School of Education and Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems; and the Directors of Planned Giving and Prospect Research.
Qualifications:
*A background of progressively more responsible leadership experience in development with a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising, preferably in a higher education.
*Proven ability to manage all stages of the major gift pipeline, from cultivation to stewardship, resulting in significant financial support for the institution.
*Experience managing multiple direct reports with disparate areas of responsibility.
*Working knowledge of planned giving instruments.
*Understanding of organizational planning and management.
*Ability to analyze data and make recommendations regarding information developed.
*Demonstrated ability to foster strong collaborative relationships at all levels of a complex organization.
*Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
*Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
