Women's Health and Counseling Center (WHCC) is currently seeking a Development Director who will be responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of all development and public relations activities for the agency. The successful candidate will have an upbeat personality, strong leadership skills, determination, superb organizational skills, and the ability to motivate others. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and has significant interaction with the Board of Trustees and its Committees. The Development Director supervises one Development Associate and volunteers.
WHCC has been serving the community for over 35 years and is a community-based, non-profit provider of personalized health care for women, particularly those who may not be able to obtain such services from traditional providers due to monetary, cultural, language or other barriers. Our goal is to provide a safe haven where compassionate and high quality services are available. These include medical and preventive care and counseling and support programs. We promote healthier communities by educating women to make informed health care choices.
The agency's budget is just over $2 million and the development department is currently raising just over $300,000, excluding government and United Way grants.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Serves as WHCC's point person for all fund-raising activities and performs multi-faceted tasks related to these activities, including scheduling of appointments, arrangements for cultivation events and coordination of special events.
2. Identifies and cultivates prospective individual donors through in person visits, direct mail, telemarketing and other campaigns as needed.
3. Proactively identifies and researches grant and foundation sources and implements new and renewal applications for funding.
4. Develops and coordinates WHCC's annual corporate solicitations, including research, cultivation and stewardship for new and renewal applications for funding.
5. Responsible for the maintenance of an updated donor database.
6. Responsible for prompt acknowledgment of all gifts.
7. Plans public relations strategy and executes plans including website, newsletters, etc.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree with at least five (5) years of prior experience. Certified Fund-Raising Executive credential preferred. Possesses a high level of expertise in all phases of fund-raising, including but not limited to solicitations of individuals, corporation/foundation proposals, special events, public funding, and public relations
