Director of Prospect Management and Strategy

Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Prospect Management and Strategy will be a key manager on the Development Department team. This position is responsible for strategic planning, policy and procedures, and relationship-based development research in order to support the Intercollegiate Studies Institute's fundraising goals. The Director will play a key role in the refinement and growth of the donor pool, and will have oversight of prospect screening and information management. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating prospect leads, and will work closely with all Development staff engaged in seeking significant gift support on behalf of ISI.

Responsibilities:
·Prospect Strategy: Directs and leads prospect research in identifying major gift prospects; works closely with the Senior and Assistant Vice Presidents for Development as well as the Director of Major Gifts to assign prospects to gift officer portfolios and monitors related qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
·Prospect Screening: Manages and provides leadership for the evaluation, maintenance and continuous improvement of ISI's prospect management system; directs strategic use of data modelling and screening results for all programs, including Major Gifts, Planned Giving, and Annual Giving.
·Information Management: Coordinates the development of concise and relevant prospect profiles, providing in-depth biographical data, financial/net worth analysis, indicators of possible philanthropic interest and eventual intent on potential donors as requested by all members of the staff. Assures accurate and timely records and reports are kept on all contacts and meetings with donors and prospects. Reviews activity reports to ensure appropriate prospect coding activity. Works closely with Information Services team on records management and tracking systems.
·Supervision: Develops appropriate research policies, procedures and standards. Establishes guidelines and policies for the accurate and ethical management of all donor and prospect information. Educates development staff regarding the methods and resources of prospect research as needed.

Requirements:
·Minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible positions in development with significant experience in research data analysis and prospect management.
·Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in process analysis, and project management, as well as demonstrated ability to share these with others through mentoring and collaboration.
·Record of initiative, problem solving and adaptability; strong analytical skills required, including expertise in modeling and analysis of data. Proven success as a creative thinker with the ability to articulate and implement programmatic visions.
·Superior communication skills, to express the importance and urgency of the mission of key internal and external constituencies in writing, on the phone and in personal meetings.
·Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
·Up to date knowledge of library science as well as commercially available research systems.
Bachelor's degree required.
