Bastyr University seeks an outstanding development professional to lead its fundraising efforts to secure private and corporate donations. Bastyr University, located in Seattle, Washington, is a regionally accredited, multi-disciplinary institution for higher education and research in the natural health sciences. It is the leading university for natural health sciences in the United States. Founded as a naturopathic medical school in 1978, enrollment now reaches over 900 students in a broad range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs in the natural health and applied behavioral sciences. Bastyr enjoys close proximity to breathtaking marine, mountain and wetland environments, an abundance of cultural, educational and recreational opportunities and, in general, a high quality of life.

The Vice President of Development reports to the President of the University, and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs for all fundraising efforts within the university. Working closely with the President and Board of Trustees, this person will be actively involved in establishing relationships with potential private and corporate donors. Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Commercial Sales, Marketing or related field required. A minimum of 7 years of fundraising experience is required with a proven track record of soliciting and securing major gifts. A minimum of 3 years experience managing the development function of an organization. Requires excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to solicit and establish mutually beneficial relationships with potential donors. Requires excellent communications skills, including public speaking, written skills, and the ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively. Ability to work independently to establish strategies, work priorities, direct the work of others, problem solve, take initiative, multi-task and exercise good judgment.
