DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
SCHOOL OF FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS OFFICE OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students emphasizing arts, media, and communications in a liberal arts setting. The Director of Fine and Performing Arts is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and managing a portfolio of prospects and donors with an affi nity for the fi ne and performing arts programs. Additional responsibilities include implementing a donor-centered, moves-management based fundraising program; identifying, cultivating, and soliciting steward donors and quality major-gift prospects; helping establish fundraising goals; participating in prospect review sessions, CCC and IA staff meetings, training and other relevant engagements; meeting with prospects and key volunteers on and off site to identify donor prospects; participating in strategic planning with the Dean for School of Fine and Performing Arts; providing advice and assistance to academic chairs and others regarding specifi c funding priorities for the school; meeting mutually agreed-upon productivity measures annually, to include number of prospect visits; solicitations/ proposals; quality contacts; prospect strategy meetings and number of dollars to be raised annually; developing, maintaining, tracking and reporting activity and results; preparing an annual work plan with specifi c fundraising goals; as well as writing and preparing gift proposals, solicitations, acknowledgment letters, and other correspondence as needed.

To qualify, candidates must possess a BA/BS (advanced degree preferred) with 5 to 7 years of experience in fi eld sales, fundraising, or development. Must possess demonstrated success in major gift solicitations for a not-for-profi t organization or university. Night and weekend availability and some travel are required.
