POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT (10-21-0069)

EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately

JOB DUTIES: The Executive Director will lead the prospect management team, manage individual portfolios of major gift donors and prospects, and assist the Vice Chancellor for Advancement in coaching development officers in major gift strategies. Primary functions and tasks include: provide and review fundraising goals and activities, including prospect management, proposal review, and fund agreement review; assist in the establishment of goals and objectives for university development; and manage a portfolio of top prospects for the University - developing and implementing plans for cultivation and solicitation in collaboration with academic leaders and development officers.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree, master's preferred; plus five years of progressively responsible fundraising and development management experience in a higher education setting; a demonstrated ability to identify and implement major gift strategic planning and solicitation strategies; and a demonstrated ability to actively listen to and communicate with all levels of internal and external constituents, specifically, advisory boards, volunteers, and donor prospects. Demands of the position require candidates with established leadership and motivational techniques; a high level of integrity, initiative, creativity, and energy; a record of significant achievement in cultivating, closing, administering, and stewarding complex major gifts; the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding and complex environment with the ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills; and strong organization and time-management skills with the corresponding analytical expertise needed to establish strategic fundraising goals and report on results. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements.
