SFK seeks a Director of Development to enable SFK to achieve its fundraising and donor relations management goals.

Background:
SFK is an international non-profit organization, empowering at-risk children and teens throughout the world. This interactive social and emotional program teaches children valuable tools to help them make wise choices and realize their potential. A preventative program, SFK is one of the few privately funded organizations currently supporting the public school system by introducing free courses that teach life-skills into the curriculum. SFK works closely with educators, parents and community leaders to ensure that children are empowered to overcome challenges, helping to end cycles of conflict for themselves and future generations.

Reports to:
President, SFK

Overall responsibility:
Under the supervision of the President, the Director will serve as the head of all resource mobilization for the Los Angeles area and for SFK global. Position is the lead to the President on all fundraising initiatives.

Responsibilities:
* Design and implement all aspects of SFK's strategic development plan, including immediate, long-term resource goals, development plans and donor relations management plan;
* Work closely with volunteer fundraising committees;
* Research, identify, and cultivate strong, dynamic relationships with potential funding sources and partnership opportunities, including individual and institutional (public and private) funding sources;
* Develop new and creative approaches to fundraising, marketing, and other activities that encourage community and public awareness and support, including web-based (and other) fundraising strategies;
* Manage the execution of fundraising strategies, including organizing volunteers, submitting proposals, managing events, soliciting donors, and organizing financial communications;
* Oversee all grant activities including writing, positioning and securing grants
* Oversee all donor relations and maintenance of donor database to ensure maximum efficiencies and tracking of sponsorship and donor financing
* Execute stewardship activities, such as gift acknowledgement and the preparation of reports to current/potential donors, and other internal/external audiences;
* Develop program budgets, work plans, schedules and other tools to manage fundraising processes;
* Promote SFK's mission and vision in public and private communications.

·Key organizational advisors (formerly from advisory boards)

Term of employment:
·Full time

Qualifications (necessary skills and experience required):
* Bachelor's degree;
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a development-related position, which must include development writing, research, design, and strategy;
* Demonstrated ability to assess and implement successful fundraising from new sources of support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, preferably with a proven record of increasing and/or diversifying contribution revenue;
* Demonstrated ability to fundraise large-scale projects and amass fundraising dollars from at least $500,000 and above;
* Working with education based-organization is a plus
* Exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong staff management and team-building skills, ease and poise in social and professional settings with donors and Board members;
* Excellent organizational skills; ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment;
* Passion for the mission of SFK and the enthusiasm and skill to communicate that passion to potential sponsors;
* An understanding of the donor community and the ability to be a well-respected and effective representative of the program;
* Location: Los Angeles.
