Position: Executive Assistant

The Center on Law and Security at NYU School of Law is seeking a motivated, energetic, and detail oriented individual to serve as an Executive Assistant, working with the Center's Executive Director and staff. The Center on Law and Security is an independent, non-partisan, research and policy center of expertise designed to promote an informed understanding of the legal and security issues that define the post-9/11 environment. Successful candidates will be flexible, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and thrive in a busy, small team environment. This is an entry level position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide extensive operational support to the Executive Director in busy work environment, including, but not limited to: scheduling, correspondence, arranging travel, and other clerical support for the Center's staff, such as contact database management and coordination of mailings.
· Assisting with Center event logistics and planning, including staffing both daytime and evening events.

Qualifications:

Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
· A minimum of 1 year administrative experience in a corporate or nonprofit office environment. Familiarity with higher education/university work environments preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal, multitasking, and organizational skills.
· Attention to detail.
· Be self-motivated, proactive, and have strong follow-through skills.
· Experience and interest in helping run day-to-day program operations of an office; familiarity with ordering supplies, database management, filing systems, etc.
· Computer skills including Word, Excel, Access, and web-based tools and databases.
· Proficiency in a foreign language ideal but not required.
· Strong personal and professional writing skills.
· B.A. in international relations, history, or a related field, preferred, but not necessary.
