MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER - FLORIDA SHERIFFS YOUTH RANCHES

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated professional in the fund-raising field, who can cultivate relationships that will prove financially beneficial to the Youth Ranches programs.

The Major Gifts Officer has direct responsibility for promoting the Youth Ranches interests and for expanding major gifts and other fund-raising efforts in southern Florida.

Essential responsibilities are as follows:

1. Secure philanthropic support with a focus on soliciting multiple, large dollar gifts (five to six dollar figures or more) by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors with this capability in the south Florida region.

2. Bring major gifts to a conclusion and provide stewardship to maintain long term relationships with donors after the gift is made.

3. Build relationships with financial planners and attorneys who have clients with a strong ability and desire to make large charitable gifts.

Education and Experience Requirements are as follows:

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in management, marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field is required. A minimum of five years experience in major gift fundraising and/or CFP certification is preferred. An equivalent combination of education/experience may be accepted.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are as follows:

1. Must possess a strong desire to master accepted financial development techniques and become knowledgeable in the various modes of cultivating and delivering of current, major gifts, and other planned gifts.

2. Must possess the ability to work with people from all walks of life, especially senior citizens.

3. Must have the ability to speak, write, and communicate in a clear, effective manner in individual and group presentations and create interest and financial support for the Youth Ranches programs.

4. Must have a basic understanding of the use of computers, including knowledge in the use of Blackbaud database systems.

5. Must have the ability to listen to, tolerate, and communicate in a warm, effective way with persons of all ages, temperaments, and abilities.

6. Must have the ability and initiative to achieve expected outcomes with a minimum of supervision and control.

7. Must have a valid Florida Driver License and be able to maintain a safe driving record consistent with agency polity as it relates to driving an agency assigned vehicle. Frequent travel/driving is required with this position.

Salary Range: $40,000-$60,000
