Major Donor & Foundation Fundraising Officer

Reporting Relationship: Major Donor and Foundation Fundraising Manager

Location: Amsterdam, NL or London, UK

Purpose:
· Supports major donor and foundation fundraising across Greenpeace
· Ultimate goal of reaching fundraising targets that allow Greenpeace to grow its global income by connecting major donors and independent foundations to its work to address the most crucial threats to the planet and invest in shaping our world

Conditions: Full time position for 12-months (with possibility for extension)

Accountabilities:

Major Gift Programme Development

· Provide support, direction, training, tools and expertise to Greenpeace National and Regional Offices (NROs) in developing their major gift programs and achieving major gift targets by developing and sharing materials, templates and guides and conducting NRO major gift trainings on an ongoing basis and/or at fundraising skillshares.
· Provide clarification on transnational fundraising issues and internal guidelines, in order to ensure a consistent and ?best practice' approach to major gift fundraising. Encourage major gift skill sharing within Greenpeace and maintain and utilise the major gift intranet site as a tool for this along with developing other support tools.
· Further develop and implement regular major gift programme reviews of key NRO offices and assist in identifying further opportunities. Create regular status reports of progress for Major Donor and Foundation Fundraising Manager and Fundraising Unit Head. Play a key role in developing these offices' major gift programmes, targets and experienced staff.


Identify Funding Opportunities through Research

· Conduct external research of donors, relevant giving trends, and key major donor information (internet searches, subscription lists, public sources, research companies).
· Identify top matches for global priority proposals to capitalise on key opportunities to fund global priorities and reach targets, including external research.
· Compile and maintain research overviews of all prospective funders.


Major Gift Communications

· Maintain the Major Gift intranet site by ensuring tools, information and materials for NROs are regularly updated on the site and NROs are familiar with the current information available and they use and contribute in sharing information on the site.
· Responsible for major gift information and best practices being shared by the fundraising newsletter and by other internal communication tools.
Introduce and encourage forum discussions about major donor and foundation fundraising, Webex discussions, regular sharing of information via internal email lists.

Support the Greenpeace International Major Gift Team

· Participate in weekly meetings and supply regular updates of work and progress.
· Support the Major Gift Team as needed in transnational major gift fundraising and related processes.


Competencies

· Foundation/Trust fundraising experience, grant/report writing and budget creation
· Minimum of five years progressively responsible major donor solicitations at the 10,000EUR+ level
· Experience in major donor programme development, Moves Management, donor stewardship, donor cultivation and solicitation strategies
· Advanced multi-project management, organizational, and problem solving skills
· Highly organised and self motivated
· Excellent writing skills
· Experience and ability with relevant donor management software, databases Access and Excel sheets
· Proficiency in Internet searches and donor research
· Excellent communication skills across different cultures and countries with superb interpersonal skills
· Good listener with the ability to teach, mentor and coach
· Fluent in written and spoken English and preferably one other modern language
· Motivated to take initiative and develop key skills
· Exceptional interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working as part of a team
· Ability to travel
