Director of Marketing, Communication and Outreach

Founded in 1867 Cedar Crest College is a four-year, independent liberal arts college for women which emphasizes cross-disciplinary cooperation and excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. The beautiful 84-acre campus, a registered national arboretum, is located in the Lehigh Valley in eastern Pennsylvania, conveniently located between Philadelphia and New York City.

The Director of Marketing, Communication and Outreach will provide strategic leadership for Cedar Crest College's mission as a women's liberal arts college. The Director's primary functions include marketing and promotion, media, public relations, alumnae relations and community involvement. The qualified candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing creative strategies to promote the College's distinctive position, enhance the college's positioning and branding, convey accomplishments and initiatives and assure a positive image through an aggressive marketing, publications and media relations effort. The Director will also be responsible for all aspects of alumni and friends communication including annual fund solicitation and stewardship efforts.

The Director will be a member of the Institutional Advancement senior staff, will act as the primary spokesperson for the College and will advise and assist the Vice President and President in developing strategies to evaluate and strengthen the College's position and national reputation. He/she will also play a key role in pre-campaign planning, the feasibility study, case preparation and campaign implementation.

The qualifications required for this position are as follows:
-Bachelor's Degree required.
-Seven to ten years of progressive responsibility in marketing and communications, preferably in higher education, or with a substantial portfolio of work with higher education clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation and understanding of the value of a liberal arts education at a women's college.
-Expertise in marketing, media relations, including branding, image content and integrated web site development.
-Expertise in annual giving campaigns including direct mail, telephone solicitations, campaign strategy, design and implementation.
-Proven portfolio of work spanning public relations, events, issues management, media relations and brand/product advertising (including broadcast, interactive, print and direct mail/collateral).
-Demonstrable interpersonal communications and writing skills.
-Ability to work closely with multiple constituents, including faculty, students, staff, alumnae, community representatives and volunteers.
-Develop a close working relationship with the President and key volunteer leaders.
-Familiarity with institutional advancement required.
-Skilled in the techniques of market research.
-Sound budget management skills.
-Strong management and organizational skills.
-Knowledge of computer based design, editing, and research applications that support marketing, communications and solicitation.
-Familiarity with strategic use of social media.
