Position: Director of Foundation Relations
Organization: Jazz at Lincoln Center
Location: New York

The Director, Foundation Relations is responsible for developing and carrying out the strategy to raise funds from private foundations and government grant programs in support of Jazz at Lincoln Center's annual operations. This position is an essential member of the senior development team who helps to achieve JALC's continued capital and endowment fund raising objectives.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Chief External Office, assist in cultivating and maintaining donor relationships by organizing ongoing schedule of meetings, receptions, and other events with artistic and executive leadership.

Develop strategies for maintaining and increasing support from foundation and government sources for annual, capital and endowment support.

Assist in development of budget projections.

Develop proposals and reports for submission to foundation and government entities.

Research prospective foundation donors and supervise Development Associate.


Qualifications:


A minimum of 5 years of experience in the fundraising field, preferably with demonstrated knowledge of the foundation and government giving communities.

Experience with developing strategies for maintaining and increasing support from foundation and government sources.

Superior writing skills, with particular emphasis on ability to think creatively about matching programs and needs with prospective funders' interest.

Excellent oral communication skills including demonstrated successful experience using tact and diplomacy.

Knowledge of Raiser's Edge, Excel and Microsoft Office database applications.

The ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment.

Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.

Bachelor's degree and passion and/or knowledge of Jazz preferred.
