Position: Director of Leadership Giving

The Holden Arboretum announces a new employment opportunity for a Director of Leadership Giving. This person will develop significant major and planned gift resources to support our immediate and long-term mission and goals. Working with the Director of Development, staff and volunteers, s/he will identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit and steward relationships with designated prospects and donors; including their family members and advisors, if necessary. S/he will also assist with the planning and implementation of Holden's Capital Campaign, in addition to other duties as may be required.

This highly visible position is designed to complement Holden's talented Development staff and add significant value to our fundraising efforts for years to come.

Experience and Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree.
2.Professional training in fundraising.
3.Three to five years of successful experience in professional fundraising for arboreta, public gardens or parks, museums or arts institutions is highly desirable.
4.Knowledge of the legal and ethical aspects of fundraising.
5.Familiarity with philanthropy in northeast Ohio is strongly desired.
6.Knowledge of philanthropic organizations and government funding agencies relevant to Holden's mission is strongly preferred.
7.Proficiency with computers and essential office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
8.Familiarity with Raiser's Edge and WealthEngine software as well as other specialized software related to fundraising and membership is preferred.
9.Effective writing skills (accurate, concise, persuasive, creative).
10.Able to work independently on multiple tasks with minimum supervision.
11.Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
12.Knowledge of budgets and financial management.
