Position: Development Associate
Organization: Alliance to Save Energy

The Alliance to Save Energy seeks a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Development Associate. The Development Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the Director of Development. This individual assists the Director in grant writing, tracking of foundation and government funding, and identifying new funding sources for the Alliance.

The candidate must have superior organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and sound judgment. S/he must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with highly motivated staff in a rapidly growing mission-focused organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Research and Writing: Research a variety of topics and information for the Director of Development. Create/write items and identify resources that support the proposal and submission process and that may also be used in grants, articles, and other materials. Identify, research, and disseminate to Alliance staff lists of potential funding sources specific to their areas of interest.

Data Management: Maintain and track a complete central repository of Alliance-related grant materials on the "H" Drive and relevant records in Kintera, including: current opportunities, past grants, reporting requirements, and collateral such as tax information and NICRA forms. Maintain and track all subscriptions, services, filings and passwords related to the Alliance grant activities, including foundation search engines, philanthropy databases and publications, government listings, etc.

Proposal Writing: Edit and proofread text of grants and other material, including recommending reorganization for better flow, rewording for clarity, checking bibliography, verifying concordance between figures and text, suggesting new figures, and editing to comply with style guidelines.

Foundation Relations: Liaise with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application to supply additional supportive material as requested. Manage the process of supplying progress reports when required by a grant-making organization that has funded a project or program.
Internal Communications: Inform Alliance staff of upcoming government, corporate, and foundation grants; conferences; fellowships/scholarships; reports; and other relevant information.

Support for Additional Development Activities: Provide support for the research, development and implementation of additional development activities, including the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), a Major Gifts strategy from high net worth individuals, and the "Donate Now" function of the Alliance web site.

Requirements
·Knowledge of research methods and funding sources.
·Skills in designing resource tools, materials and presentations for writing proposals.
·Skill in English language and grammar.
·Skill in both verbal and written communication.
·Ability to collaborate with different levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
·Strong attention to detail and the ability to establish and follow routine processes and procedures.
·Demonstrated interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills.
·Exercises initiative in undertaking routine assignments/projects without direct supervision.
