The Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice was founded in 1977, and is a public foundation that works for social, racial and economic justice in the U.S. and internationally. Our grantmaking, capacity-building and philanthropic advocacy programs promote and support the work of US-based grassroots lesbian-led and progressive LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex) social justice organizations, cultural projects, and artists/cultural workers; and we also support grassroots LGBTI organizations in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central/Latin America, Eastern Europe/former Soviet Republic, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands.
