Association of Fundraising Professionals: Jobs Service
This site, run by a nonprofit association in Alexandria, Va., lists mostly positions for those experienced in fund raising. The site is searchable by keyword, location, and job type, level, and category. Other resources for fund raisers can be found on the association's Web site, including research links, salary profiles, and a fund-raising dictionary.

Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement: Job Quest
Run by a nonprofit group in Naperville, Ill., this site lists donor-prospect research positions for charities nationwide. Nearly all positions require experience in the world of nonprofit donor research.

CareerBuilder
Operated by the Gannett, Knight Ridder, and Tribune companies, this site lists jobs in more than 200 U.S. markets and in every industry, including a "Charitable/Not for Profit" option. Visitors may also search by location, salary, and key words; also provides the option of searching any of 31 job-search sites listed they wish to search. Jobs listed range from entry-level positions to openings for chief executive officers. Additionally, this site enables visitors to sign up for e-mail notification of jobs that have been newly posted with CareerBuilder.

Charity Channel: Resource Guide
This site offers job listings and a registry of nonprofit consultants. Job opportunities can be searched by title, location, organization, or classification. Most of the jobs require at least two years of experience, and many are for executive positions, though a few listings for entry-level posts are also included. The site includes ads for products and services nonprofit groups may need, such as event planning, training, and database software. The online consultants directory can be searched by consultant or company name, location, or expertise.

Chronicle of Philanthropy: Philanthropy Careers
This site, Philanthropy Careers, is the job section of The Chronicle of Philanthropy, which allows users to search jobs that appear in the print version of the paper. Philanthropy Careers includes opportunities in fund raising, grant making, and nonprofit management. Users may search by position, job field, or keyword. Early Career Opportunities, a special section of the site, lists jobs that require less than three years of experience. Job seekers may also sign up for an e-mail notification of new jobs in their area of interest, or learn more about certain organizations in the Employer Profile section.

Community Career Center
Maintained by Enterprise, a Las Vegas company this site allows users to search jobs by region, job type, and title, as well as by employer, job-skills required, and member affiliation. Users can also search for jobs posted by the center's member organizations -- 19 nonprofit groups, including the American Cancer Society and the American Civil Liberties Union. Jobs from those groups make up the bulk of the listings on this site, and the majority of the jobs require several years experience; some entry-level jobs are also available. Users do not have to sign up or pay a fee to search the listings, and posting a candidate job profile is free. The site also has a resources section, which lists links to sites that provide information of interest to people seeking non-profit work.

Council on Foundations Job Bank
Run by the Council on Foundations, a Washington association of more than 1,800 grant makers, this site allows users to search for jobs by category and key words. The majority of the jobs posted on the site are for executives, but some entry-level positions are available. Users can post résumés and apply for jobs online. This site also includes salary reports and links to other sites with job-search information.

Craigslist
Craigslist is a free Web site (with very few exceptions) that hosts classified ads and forums for 567 cities in more than 50 countries. Users may go here and then choose the city or country-specific Craigslist they would like to search. To find a job in a nonprofit organization, choose "nonprofit sector" from the jobs menu. Users can also post their resumes for free on this site.

DeepSweep.com
With hundreds of nonprofit jobs across the country listed, this site is searchable by job category, location, company, or date the position was posted. Résumé posting on this site is free, but because anyone can search the résumés, job seekers are advised not to leave any personal information online. Users may also create a free profile to receive e-mail job alerts tailored to specific criteria, like job category or keyword.

DotOrgjobs.com
DotOrgjobs.com lists job openings in the nonprofit world, which visitors to the site can browse by job title, category, or region. The site also offers advice for job seekers, links to magazine and newspaper articles on careers and on the nonprofit world, and links to other Web sites that list nonprofit job openings. DotOrgjobs.com is run by Changing Our World Through Philanthropy, a fund-raising Web site founded by two fund-raising consulting companies, Mike Hoffman Associates and CTE Associates, both in New York.

Energize Inc.
Sponsored by a consulting company in Philadelphia that specializes in training volunteers and those who manage them, this site lists job openings in volunteer management around the world. The site, searchable by paid jobs or internships, features many more temporary job positions than full-time permanent jobs.

ExecSearches.com
Created by Isaacson, Miller, a Boston recruiting firm, this site lists executive and senior management jobs at non-profit organizations and government agencies. Visitors may search by non-profit field, job type, and region. The site also offers free e-mail notification of new job listings.

Idealist Job Search
A project of Action Without Borders, this Web site allows users to search a data base of non-profit jobs by category -- choosing from 35 options, such as database management and fund raising -- as well as by job description, country, state or city, job type, organizational mission, and language requirements. The site includes internships and entry-level jobs, as well as those that require several years of experience. Visitors may also sign up to receive a daily e-mail that lists all new job and internship openings posted on the site.

The Job Resource Job Search
Maintained by the Job Resource, in Menlo Park, Calif., this job site is for college students and recent graduates. New users must comlete a free registration to search job listings. To search for openings in nonprofit organizations, select "public service and civic organizations" as the company type. Visitors can also search by job type -- full-time, part-time, or internship -- location, or key word. Because this site is designed for students and recent graduates, almost all of the listings are for entry-level positions, including a few internships and fellowships. Visitors can post a résumé free of charge. This site also includes information about job seeking.

Nonprofit Career Network
This site, owned and operated by the Nonprofit Career Network in Haddam, Conn., allows users to search its listings by choosing full-time or part-time, or state locations. Many of the jobs require several years experience, but the site also advertises entry-level openings. Users can also post their résumés for $40 a year. After users have posted their résumés, they may choose to prevent specific organization from retrieving it. Users are also notified via e-mail every time an employer looks at their résumé. The site profiles about 30 nonprofit organizations that post job openings on the site, including information on what the organization does, contact information, and a link to the organization's Web site, plus a directory of more than 100 nonprofit organizations and links to their Web sites. Users may also look for job fairs, conferences, workshops, and conventions, view a directory of professional services, and search for volunteer opportunities.

The NonProfit Times
This site is maintained by the The NonProfit Times, in Cedar Knolls, N.J., a biweekly newspaper. Users may search by job category, state, and country. Posting a resume; on the site is free for all users. Most of the job openings are for chief executive officers or senior management positions.

OpportunityKnocks.org
Run by the Management Center in San Francisco, a nonprofit organization that offers advice and training to other charities, this site contains both national and international jobs. Users may search the database by region, job type (full- or part-time), organization type, job description, and key words. Some entry-level jobs are available, in addition to postions requiring more experience. The site includes a career section, which lists job-search sites, news groups that deal with the nonprofit job search, and specialized information for people in certain fields, such as the arts, biomedicine, and social services, plus résumé services, and career-development sites.

NonprofitOyster.com
NonprofitOyster.com, run by an organization in Delray Beach, Fla., lists professional job openings within the nonprofit world, including entry-level, part-time, temporary, or international work. Users can search the listings by location, type of job, and keyword. By creating a free account, users may post résumés anonymously on the site. The site also includes links to other Web sites that provide nonprofit job listings.

Philanthropy News Digest Job Corner
The Philanthropy News Digest, published by the Foundation Center in New York, lists job openings at nonprofit groups in the United States. Most of the positions require at least three years of experience. They can be searched by organization type, job function, or state. This site also contains links to several other sites that post job openings, and offers a free e-mail alert when listings are added.

PNNOnline: Career Center
This site, searchable by positions, such as general fund raising, and by organizational missions, such as education and environment, is operated by PNNOnline, a Richmond, Va., company that covers news in the nonprofit world. The listings are predominantly for jobs on the East Coast, and most require some experience, though a few entry-level jobs are posted. Users can apply for all the positions through the Web site.

Professionals for NonProfits
Operated by Professionals for NonProfits, an executive-search company in New York, this site lists job openings in the metropolitan New York area. Users can search the position listings by nonprofit field, type of job, or keyword. Registering with the site allows users to apply for jobs online, as well as receive e-mail alerts when new positions become available.

Servenet: Career Opportunities
This site is a project of Youth Service America, a Washington nonprofit organization that encourages young people to volunteer. Most of the jobs are at youth groups, but other opportunities are also listed. The job openings are searchable by key word.
