IRS Offers Workshops for Charities

The Internal Revenue Service is offering one-day workshops for small- and mid-sized charities that want to know more about how to maintain their tax-exempt status and comply with federal laws.

The workshops are designed for administrators or volunteers who are responsible for their organizations’ tax compliance.

The workshops are scheduled for November 13-15 in Salt Lake City; December 4 to 6 in Columbia, S.C.; and December 18 to 20 in Sacramento, Calif.

Go to the IRS Web site for more information.

  1. It is about time. Even if the I.R.S. is ultimately the wrong agency to oversee nonprofit organizations, they currently have been given the responsibility and have historically done little to reach out to the small and mid-size nonprofits that make the majority of the organizations they supposedly oversee. Unfortunately if the schedule listed is the extent of the effort rather than a starting point they still will have done little to reach out to the target audience.

    Thank you for your comment.

The IRS has indicated that it will be conducting similar programs in other parts of the country in the future.
