Microsoft to Donate Software to Indian Charities
The Microsoft Corporation, in Redmond, Wash., announced on Monday that it will distribute free software to nonprofit groups to encourage the growth of charities in India, the Associated Press reports.
About 35,000 charities are expected to be eligible.
The software will be doled out through a technology-assistance program that India’s Nasscom Foundation — the philanthropy side of a trade consortium of technology companies operating in India — is offering in partnership with TechSoup, a San Francisco charity that works with companies like Cisco Systems, Microsoft, and Symantec.
