January 08, 2008 Charity Leader Staged Break-Ins, Fla. Police Officials SayPolice have arrested the leader of a charity in Jacksonville, Fla., for falsely claiming that burglars stole medical supplies from his warehouse, reports WJXT television, a local news program. Bill Henry, the head of America’s Heart, a Christian group that ships medical supplies to developing countries, says his organization has been the victim of several robberies, including one in which he was shot. But police officials say Mr. Henry staged the robberies and the shooting to win public sympathy for his charity, which is fighting other tenants in the warehouse for control of the building. He then sold the stolen goods in Miami through a friend, police officials said. The report did not include comment from Mr. Henry or a representative. ![]() CommentsCommenting is closed for this article.
