Gates Foundation Gives $25-Million to Study Animal and Human Diseases

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given Washington State University $25-million to help build a new school for studying infectious diseases that affect both animals and humans, reports The Seattle Times.

The grant, the largest private donation to the university, will support research on new vaccines, emerging diseases, and how to control diseases.

  1. Generous donations like this are great… but MUCH more is needed:

    Ten million people die every year from hunger and hunger-related diseases.

    It makes excellent sense for other donors and our government to fund global health and poverty programs on a larger scale.

    Our total foreign aid budget is only 25 cents per American per day.

    We can do better. Much better!

    Hearts & Minds advocates a new and comprehensive Marshall Plan. We can empower poor people with very low cost ways to prevent disease and to lift themselves from poverty. This can bypass the bureaucracy and corruption that plagues many foreign aid programs:
