National Cathedral Faces Deep Cuts

Washington’s National Cathedral, battling a widening budget gap, has announced plans to drastically cut its budget and lay off 30 percent of its staff members, according to The Washington Post.

The cathedral, which serves the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and is the nation’s symbolic place for religious gatherings, is supported entirely by donations, receiving nothing from the diocese, the national Episcopalian church, or the government.
