Building Online Social Networks: a Strategy for Hard Times

In these difficult times, nonprofit groups are seeking new ways to strengthen ties to their supporters — and online networks offer great potential, says Allison Fine, host of The Chronicle’s new podcast series, Social Good.

In the latest installment, now available free online, Ms. Fine interviews Lucy Bernholz, a philanthropy consultant and author of the blog Philanthropy 2173, and Katya Andresen, vice president for marketing at Network for Good.

  1. We at United Cerebral Palsy, in the face of declining corporate and individual contributions, are pursuing this strategy. It remains to be seen though, whether or not revenues lost from RL donations can be made up online. Any non-profits out there have a success story?
