Government and Politics Watch: Presidential Efforts on Volunteerism and Social Service

President-elect Barack Obama today unveiled a new television advertisement as part of a push to get Americans to make a year-round commitment to community service.

Plus: During the past eight years, President Bush has helped steer billions of public dollars to religious organizations and other charities to fight poverty and provide other services, according to a new White House report.

Comments

  1. The worse thing that could have been done is to mix church and state. The churches are poping up everywhere and felons are getting pastor lisences from the internet. The churches are becoming a business in the communities. A lot of times instead of putting the monies into the communitties the churches are focusing on who has the best looking clergy, the best paid clergy and the best looking church.
