Chronicle Announces Finalists in VolunTV Challenge
After receiving more than 150 entries, The Chronicle of Philanthropy has named its 20 finalists in its VolunTV Challenge.
Inspired by the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s “iParticipate” week of volunteer-focused television programs, the contest offered readers the chance to come up with their own versions for how to portray volunteerism in their favorite TV shows.
The finalists include 15 written entries and five video submissions.
A panel of judges will now pick the three top contest winners, who will receive cash prizes for their favorite charities.
Judges include nonprofit experts as well as other people involved in the philanthropic world, such as the actress Ashley Judd, a spokeswoman for Population Services International; Arthur Coddington, a senior official at the Craigslist Foundation; and Nigel Barker, a judge on “America’s Next Top Model.”
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 4.
