    Applications for grants from the Dollar General Literacy to support schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations that help students who are below grade level or experiencing difficulty reading. Grants will go to the following areas: implementing new literacy programs or expanding existing ones; purchasing new technology or equipment to support literacy projects; and buying books, materials, or software for programs.

    Illinois

    Applications for grants of up to $40,000 each through the African American Legacy program from the Chicago Community Trust. Grants will support projects that engage African-American youths in reducing violence. Up to six organizations will receive grants that are renewable for a maximum of three years. Who may apply: organizations classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or have such a group as a fiscal agent. Government agencies are also eligible to apply. Applicants must serve residents in the Chicago metropolitan area, including Cook, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, or Will Counties.

    International

    Grants of up to $90,000 each are available from the Alliance for Global Good to support organizations to implement mission-relevant, revenue-generating strategies. Eligible applicants are stable, midsize nonprofit organizations working on solving global challenges that have done sufficient background work to be able to demonstrate in a business plan, or similar material, a mature strategy for concrete programs.
