To date, Mr. Murdock he has donated over $131-million to the institute.

Birthright Israel Foundation (New York) has received a partial challenge pledge of $40-million from the Adelson Family Foundation (Sheldon G. and Miriam Adelson) to enable young Jews ages 18 to 26 to travel to Israel. Half of the gift is a challenge. Mr. Adelson is the developer of the Venetian, a hotel in Las Vegas, and chairman of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. To date, the couple has donated $180-million to Birthright Israel.

The academy will help students become entrepreneurs. Mr. Iovine's daughter graduated from the university in 2012. He has made this gift in conjunction with Andre "Dr. Dre" Young, with whom he founded Beats Headphones.

Rice U. (Houston) has received a gift of $28.5-million from Milton and Laurie Boniuk to establish the Boniuk Institute for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance. Dr. Boniuk is chair of ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston. In 2004, the couple donated $5-milion to Rice to establish the Boniuk Institute for Religious Tolerance.

U. of Denver has received a gift of property worth $27-million from Daniel L. Ritchie, former chairman and chief executive of Westinghouse Broadcasting, in Pittsburgh, and former chancellor of the university from 1989 to 2005. The property is an avocado ranch in Montecito, Calif. Proceeds from the ranch will construct a new engineering and computer science building. This is the largest gift the university has ever received.

The remainder of the gift will provide scholarship support for football players majoring in business. Mr. Tippie earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the university in 1949. He is chairman of Dover Downs Gaming & Entertainment, in Delware, and a cattle rancher in Texas.
