More than 40 “Hillblazers” - Hillary Clinton supporters who have pledged to raise $100,000 for her presidential campaign - are also donors to the Clinton Foundation, including several multimillion-dollar contributors to the family charity, writes The Wall Street Journal.
Twenty of the $100,000 “bundlers” have collectively donated at least $54 million to the foundation, the newspaper reports, citing a review of campaign and foundation disclosures.
Among the listed Hillblazers, media billionaires Fred Eychaner and Haim Saban are the top foundation donors, having respectively given more than $25 million and between $10 million and $25 million. Philanthropies linked to venture capitalist Jay Robert Pritzker and Susie Tompkins Buell, co-founder of the Esprit clothing line, have given $5 million to $10 million to the charity. “It shouldn’t come as a surprise” that people who support the foundation’s work “also think Hillary Clinton would be a great president,” said Josh Schwerin, a campaign spokesman.
