Carolyn Lynch, one-half of one of Boston’s most prominent philanthropic couples, died Thursday at age 69 of complications from acute myeloid leukemia, The Boston Globe reports. The wife of former Fidelity executive Peter Lynch had been diagnosed with the disease less than two weeks ago.
The Lynches were major donors to Boston College, Mr. Lynch’s undergraduate alma mater, which named its School of Education for them. They also endowed a laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, from which Ms. Lynch graduated. A former physical therapist who worked with disabled children and veterans, she served since 1988 as president of the Lynch Foundation, which actively supports community groups in Boston.
