The University of Buffalo announced a $30 million gift Monday from Jeremy M. Jacobs Sr., the billionaire head of hospitality and tourism conglomerate Delaware North, and his wife, Margaret, reports The Buffalo News.
The donation will benefit the institution’s medical school, which was renamed the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Mr. Jacobs, who also owns the NHL’s Boston Bruins, graduated from the university before taking charge of Buffalo-based Delaware North, which was founded by his father and uncles a century ago. His family’s total giving to the university now tops $50 million. The medical school is slated to move in two years into a $375-million academic and research facility being built in downtown Buffalo.
